Hi, I am Elya 👩🏻‍💻 I am a frontend developer and a business informatics student living in Berlin, Germany. 

I came to here 3,5 years ago to study economics and ended up being a frontend developer 😂 And this was officially the best accident ever happen to me! How did that happen? ⬇️

Growing up I always wanted to become an artist or a writer or worst case scenario a dancer. At some point I decided to have my own business, because this way I would have enough money and free time to do a lot of drawing and writing lol 😅

So I moved to Germany to study Economics. I’ve ended up enrolling myself in Business Informatics, because it sounded like business with a technical twist. Of course, I was completely wrong! My program turned out to be 90% computer science 🙈

The beginning was hard. I enjoyed the programming part, but found the teaching pace too fast and homeworks too hard. Surprisingly, the more classes I took, the more I liked it. I especially enjoyed one subject called “Web Technologies” where we learned the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript and built out first websites.

In fact, I liked it so much that I started making websites in my free time. After a couple of months and having my portfolio ready, I applied for jobs and got accepted to a company where I work now as a frontend developer 👩🏻‍💻

I live my life by the motto “If you believe you can, then you can!” That’s also what I try to share on Instagram: You can be anything, no matter what age, gender or nationality you are! I also try to remind myself every day that life is never #ffffff or #000000, it’s full of colors! 🎨
